to know.
Do I need an internet connection?
Photo identification needs an internet connection. Your saved journal also has local copies for offline use. Cloud backup needs a connection and must finish before data can be recovered.
Can I use Catcharium for free?
Yes. Free access includes three scans each day, your personal catch journal and aquarium, badges, share cards, and basic guide information for your collection. Pro adds advanced identification, scans without a daily allowance limit, and full guide access.
Is my catch journal private?
Your journal is not a public feed. Account & backup uses an automatically created anonymous account for private cloud storage. Recovery requires the same anonymous credentials and a completed backup; changing devices or restoring purchases does not automatically transfer your journal. Read our privacy policy for the details.
Which languages does the app support?
English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian. The app follows your iPhone’s language setting. This website’s legal and support pages are in English.
Can I rely on an identification for safety?
AI identification and length estimates are suggestions and may be wrong. Check fishing regulations, protected species, catch sizes, and animal or food safety with authoritative sources. Catcharium is not a certified measuring tool.
